Hi, y'all -

If you know anything about us, it's that we CANNOT RESIST a bracket. So here we are, building a bracket and fighting it all the way through to a winner for The Platinum Pooper of 'Imbibe and Prejudice: Volume One.'
You really get to hear how the sausage is made, folks. Please enjoy.

Hi, y'all -

In the (not so) grand tradition of Julie's other podcast Maria, Solved!, we put Janine in the hot seat and treat him as an expert in Jane Austen's Emma. Come for the Regency comedy of manners, stay for the treatise on slaughterhouse conditions.

Hi, y'all -

We're almost done with our first volume (there will always be more PP) of Pride and Prejudice coverage. So it's time to pull out Julie's chainmail ball sack/dice bag of destiny and let fate decide the best of the best. We're saving Darcy and Lizzie for later, but you'll hear debates about other characters, costumes, adaptation, etc. Please enjoy and remember to hit us up with your suggestions for next time when we crown The Platinum Pooper, AKA the Golden-est of Buttholes.

Hey, y'all -

We know y'all know an Outlander Season 6 teaser came out. And y'all know that WE know that we had to watch it and dissect it frame by frame. Enjoy!

Oct 20, 2021

We've reached the end of our coverage of the 2005 Joe Wright/Keira Knightley PP. Spoiler - we love it! Allison is out this week, but friend of the show Amelia Buzzell joins us as we give this PP the Scales treatment. Pro tip:  this episode contains a story told by Amelia that is so good, you need to be sitting down when she starts.

Lots of love -

Y'all -

A special surprise episode! FOR EVERYONE!!

Our man Tobias won a major award. We are all so proud of him, since those of us in the Outlander-sphere have known for a long time how good he is at acting. We discuss his career, postulate as to where he will display his new statuette, and just shoot all the shit about our favorite jactor of all time.

One more reminder: our New York Comic-Con panel is THIS SATURDAY, October 9! If you're vaxxed and able to snag a ticket, join us at 8:15pm ET at the Javits Center, in room 1A24. BYO LaCroix.

Hi, y'all -

Caitriona Balfe totally dropped a baby like Beyonce drops an album - stealthily, and with great power. So we go back to our Outlander roots and debate which Beyonce songs go with which characters and scenes from your favorite sexy time travel show. Friend of the show Amelia Buzzell joins us in our quest.

Hey y'all,

It's the second-to-last installment of Keirafest (though there will be a bit of a wait for the next one) and we are downright giddy to be joined by critic LaToya Ferguson. LaToya joins us for a spirited conversation about the period drama movie dominance of one Keira Knightley. We also talk about her Love, Actually hat.

Also: In New York? Come join us for a panel at NYCC

Lots of love,

Allison, Julie and Janine

Hey y'all,

Let's talk about bonnets, baby! We're just tickled to say that Emma Fraser has returned to the show for our discussion of the costumes in Joe Wright's PP (which, let's be honest, is really mostly a discussion of the green dress in Atonement.)

Also, we're so excited to say we're doing a panel at New York Comic Con! Our panel is Saturday night. If you're vaccinated, we'd love to see you. We'll also be paneling at Wizard World Chicago, but more on that later.

Lots of love,

Allison, Julie and Janine

Hey y'all,

Maybe you thought we couldn't do an hour-long episode about roughly 39 seconds of a movie. If so... why? We did a whole series of episodes about one single episode of Wishbone.

Anyway, here are our thoughts on the hottest piece of inaccurately-named hand-acting (hacting?), with *invaluable* insights from our special guest, Sarah Marrs of LaineyGossip.

Next week: costumes, baybeeeeee!

Lots of love,

Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all,

Enclosed please find our rapturous coverage of the second half of this movie, which, as the youths say, SLAPS.

Next week: ALL HANDFLEX ALL THE TIME!

Allison, Julie, and Janine

Aug 4, 2021

Hey y'all,

Enclosed within please find our thoughts on the first half of Joe Wright's 2005 stone-cold classic Pride & Prejudice adaptation. This is a weird episode - we slipped sideways into another universe, maybe? Anyway, hands, they were flexed. Enjoy.

Lots o' love,

Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all,

And so begins KEIRAFEST, which is what we're calling our coverage of another formidable PP: Joe Wright's 2005 adaptation, starring Mme. Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. It's a good 'un. Allison has seen it. Janine has seen it. Julie has not. Sounds like a decent excuse to rip off Julie's podcast Maria, Solved! if ever we heard one.

Hey y'all,

Our third and (for now) final episode on Gurinder Chadha's wonderful rom-com (with songs!) lies within. We're joined by a special guest, writer/podcaster Manish Mathur! In the episode, Manish mentions an article he wrote: that's 10 Essential Films from Indian Cinema, and it's well worth your click. If you want to listen to his delightful podcast about romance in film, It Pod To Be You, you can find that here. We should be jealous because his pod name is so much better than ours, but we like listening to it (and talking to Manish) too much to be ornery.

Next up: Pride & Prejudice: A New Musical!

Lots o' love,
Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all,

Here's our third and final b-road trip episode, in which we discuss the highs, lows, and WHAT THE FUCKs of Men In Kilts and The Wine Show. Mouse Rat rules.

May 24, 2021

Hey y'all,

Rakes gonna rake. Julie's off for this episode, so Allison and Janine are joined by friend-of-the-show Amelia Buzzell for this chat about the live-streamed performance of Adrian Lukis' one-man show Being Mr. Wickham. Lydia's doing very well, thank you for asking.

Lots of love,

Allison, Julie, and Janine

May 14, 2021

Hey y'all,

We're joined this week by the GOAT Caroline Bingley and our new favorite dog choreographer, Jeanne Simpson! Jeanne talks to us about her experience on Wishbone, why she loves Jane Austen, and what it's like to choreograph a dance about learning to use the shitter. It's a very special episode. We hope you enjoy listening to our conversation even half as much as we enjoyed having it.

You'll hear more about these things in the episode, but here's Edith Layton on bookshop.org, here's Gotta Dance Productions, and we'll pick a Sunday in June to have a lil' Fitzmob.

Next week: Being Mr. Wickham!

Lots o' love,

Allison, Julie, and Janine

May 6, 2021
Hey pals,
Welcome to part two—part two! of three!—of our miniseries on the Wishbone episode "Furst Impressions." We're joined this week by comedian and actor Danny Jolles (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), whose first comedy special, 6 Parts, came out at the end of March. It's excellent, and because Danny's cool as hell, it's also free to everyone on the ol' YouTube. Janine, Julie, and Allison all loved it, and they promise they're not just saying that because he came on the show.
The YouTube playlist we promised is here, though it doesn't yet include that Wishbone sketch, as it turns out that googling "Wishbone playboy" doesn't, ah, work. We'll update it when we find it and are feeling less scarred. We did, however, include some of the jokes and songs from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend we referenced, along with some other things. He's a delight! Watch them all, but especially 6 Parts.
Next week: JEANNE SIMPSON, MOTHERFUCKERS!
Lots of love,
Allison, Julie, and Janine
Apr 30, 2021

Hey y'all,

And now, our first impression of Wishbone's "Furst Impressions." The first in a three-part series. All on Wishbone's "Furst Impressions." This is not a joke, we really are doing three episodes on "Furst Impressions."  With only slightly further ado, enjoy.

The additional ado: you'll hear about this in the episode, but our next PP is Being Mr. Wickham, which you can see via Theatre Royal, which is livestreaming the show on April 30 and May 1. More details here. (If you don't watch, you'll still enjoy the episodes, we promise. )

Lots of love,

Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all,

Herein continues our coverage of the bro-ad trip shows within our purview, Men In Kilts and The Wine Show. As a reminder, last week, we started with MIK, episode one. This week brings our thoughts on The Wine Show's first episode. Next we jump back onto the Austen beat (what's next? WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO KNOW) and in the interim we'll binge both these suckers, and then we'll do an episode on both complete first seasons. And we'd love to hear your thoughts! If you've watched either (or both), please hit us up in the Patreon comments, on Slack, via Twitter or Facebook, or however else you like.

The next batch of episodes, y'all? We are STOKED.

Lots of love,

Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all,
Herein begins our coverage of the bro-ad trip shows within our purview, Men In Kilts and The Wine Show. Normally this would just be some jokes, but instead, here's a little rundown of how this will work. We're starting with MIK, episode one. Next week you'll hear our thoughts on The Wine Show's first episode as well. Then we drift back into Austenland for a spell to give us time to binge both shows in their entirety, and then we'll do an episode on both. And we'd love to hear your thoughts! If you've watched either (or both), please hit us up in the Patreon comments, on Slack, via Twitter or Facebook, or however else you like. Pay someone to skywrite about Matthew Rhys' hotness! You do you, boo!
Lots of love,
Allison, Julie, and Janine

Hey y'all,

This is your part two! Hopefully you've JUST listened to DCTP episode 2. If not, we think you'll have fun anyway.
